What is the Peter Hess® Method?

ed2499 26e31f16f2ee4e7aa40c6b9db9b9fb10mv2The Peter Hess® method was developed by Peter Hess, a pioneer in the field of sound bowl therapy. He is an educator and physical engineer who has been studying the influence of sound on people for over forty years. He developed a successful sound method aimed at Western people. Practical experience with sound and scientific research form the basis of the method. It combines traditional sound bowl techniques with modern insights into bodywork and relaxation techniques. The method is characterized primarily by a holistic approach and methodically performed massage. How Does It Work?

During a Peter Hess® singing bowl massage, carefully selected singing bowls are used that are attuned to your personal needs. The bowls are strategically placed around and on your body while you lie comfortably clothed. If desired, this can also take place while seated.

Through various playing techniques, harmonic vibrations are created that penetrate deep into body and mind. These vibrations operate according to physical principles, comparable to the waves created when you drop a pebble into water. Because our body consists of approximately 70% water, the sound waves gently set our body cells in motion, thereby stimulating inner harmony and balance.

Unlike a traditional massage, which focuses on the physical manipulation of muscles and tissues, a Peter Hess® singing bowl massage promotes relaxation and well-being through the power of sound and vibration.

Een klankmeditatie is pure verwennerij.

images 7

  • More connection with yourself

  • Bevordering van creativiteit en inspiratie

  • Verbeterde slaapkwaliteit

  • Emotionele ontlading

  • Diepe meditatie

  • Intensieve ontspanning

Frequently asked questions

Below you will find the most frequently asked questions. However, if your question is not listed, please feel free to contact us.

What is a singing bowl massage and how does it work?

A Peter Hess® singing bowl massage is a holistically oriented form of massage in which metal bowls are used on and/or around the body. While you lie comfortably clothed, the bowls are struck gently and methodically, producing sound vibrations that influence the body and mind.

The vibrations resonate through the body, which can help with relaxation, activating the self-healing capacity, stress reduction, inviting you to inspiration and creativity and it in balancing energyThe bowls are of high quality and crafted with expertise. The metals used include: copper, tin, iron, lead, silver, and gold.

A sound massage lasts 60 minutes, including a short intake, and after the massage I briefly check how you liked it, but many people also leave in silence. Just whatever your preference is.

What distinguishes singing bowl massages is the use of sound vibrations combined with very light touch, for example to indicate where and when the bowls are placed, or when the bowls are therapeutically “dragged” over the body. This is in contrast to purely physical manipulation of muscles and tissues, as in traditional forms of massage.

A singing bowl massage focuses on physical contact because the singing bowls literally on the body come to stand and the use of sound vibrations for targeted harmonization and relaxation of the body.

A sound meditation is more focused on the passive experience of the sounds and vibrations of various instruments around the body go there for deep relaxation and a change in consciousness.

Sound bowl massages and meditations are suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds who are looking for a holistic approach to relaxation and well-being.

Although Peter Hess® singing bowl massages are generally considered safe and many people benefit from them, there are some situations in which it is not appropriate to undergo a singing bowl massage.

In case of serious medical conditions such as:

  • Heart problems, epilepsy, severe mental disorders, or recent surgery.
  • If you are suffering from a contagious disease, such as the flu, a cold, or another form of infectious condition, it is advisable to postpone the sound bowl massage until you have fully recovered to reduce the risk of spreading the infection.
  •  If you are allergic to certain metals or materials used in the singing bowls.
  • With some pacemakers, sound bowl massage cannot be used. Always consult your healthcare provider first.
  • Undergoing a sound massage is not recommended for serious psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, or for a predisposition to psychosis.

Pregnancy is of course not a medical condition, but should you be pregnant, please read the following:
  • Although sound bowl massages are generally considered safe during pregnancy, it is always wise to discuss this with your midwife or doctor before undergoing a massage. It is not recommended to undergo a sound massage during the first trimester of pregnancy.
