You can analyze it, put it into perspective, talk about it. And yet your body reacts differently. Tension, restlessness, a feeling of being \u201con alert\u201d that doesn\u2019t just go away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is usually the point where people ask themselves:<br><em>Why can't I just let this go?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The problem is usually not your thinking.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people try to resolve anxiety with insight. Understanding where it comes from, talking about it, making it \u201cfit\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That helps a little sometimes, but often not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because fear is not just a thought. It is also a physical reaction that was learned somewhere at some point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your nervous system has learned: this is not safe.<br>And that system doesn't switch off automatically just because your head says everything is fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What EMDR does differently in this regard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>EMDR is niet gericht op n\u00f3g meer praten of analyseren. In mijn praktijk werk ik met <a href=\"https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/en\/www-hartmonie-nl-emdr-therapie-amsterdam\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"4814\">EMDR bij onder andere angstklachten.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het richt zich op wat er nog \u201cvastzit\u201d in de manier waarop je brein ervaringen heeft opgeslagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tijdens EMDR werk je met herinneringen, beelden of gevoelens, terwijl je aandacht tegelijk wordt afgeleid. Daardoor komt er als het ware beweging in iets wat eerder vast stond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not by forcing it, but because your brain starts processing it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image aligncenter uagb-block-9055e624 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-center\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/EMDR-sessie-in-therapiepraktijk-1024x683.png ,https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/EMDR-sessie-in-therapiepraktijk.png 780w, https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/EMDR-sessie-in-therapiepraktijk.png 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/EMDR-sessie-in-therapiepraktijk-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"uag-image-5078\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" title=\"EMDR sessie in therapiepraktijk\" role=\"img\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why that can work for anxiety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With anxiety, you often see the same pattern:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You react more strongly than the situation calls for<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>je lichaam gaat sneller in alarmstand<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You know rationally that it isn't right, but it feels that way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dat verschil tussen weten en voelen is precies waar EMDR op aangrijpt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het doel is niet dat je nooit meer iets voelt, maar dat de intensiteit van die automatische reactie afneemt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What people often notice\u2014without it having to be \u201cspectacular\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Change usually does not lie in one big moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is more about things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>situations that are less clearly perceived<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be able to switch back faster after voltage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>minder \u201covergenomen worden\u201d door een gevoel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>more space between trigger and response<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Soms merk je het pas achteraf. Dat je anders reageert dan eerst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Niet alles hoeft een duidelijk trauma te zijn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>EMDR wordt vaak gekoppeld aan grote trauma\u2019s, maar in de praktijk is dat niet altijd hoe het zich presenteert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het kan ook gaan om:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>langdurige stress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>situaties waarin je weinig grip had<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>of ervaringen die op zichzelf klein lijken, maar wel impact hebben gehad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Het punt is niet hoe \u201cgroot\u201d iets was, maar hoe je systeem het heeft opgeslagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoe een traject meestal verloopt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het begint bijna altijd rustig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eerst kijken wat er speelt, hoe je klachten zich uiten en of EMDR \u00fcberhaupt logisch is om in te zetten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daarna pas komt het werken met EMDR zelf, en dat gebeurt niet gehaast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je zenuwstelsel reageert niet op snelheid, maar op veiligheid en timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EMDR kan soms spanning oproepen, juist omdat je naar moeilijke momenten kijkt die nog opgeslagen liggen in je systeem. Dat is ook onderdeel van het proces: daar waar het vastzit, komt weer beweging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daarom combineer ik EMDR <a href=\"https:\/\/hartmonie.nl\/en\/hypnotherapie-amsterdam\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"950\">in mijn praktijk vaak met hypnotherapie<\/a>. Niet om het proces te onderdrukken, maar om het lichaam daarna weer te helpen zakken in ontspanning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EMDR is geen trucje<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het is geen methode waarbij je even iets \u201cwegwerkt\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En het is ook niet bedoeld als snelle fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het gaat eerder om het herstellen van de manier waarop je systeem informatie verwerkt, zodat het niet telkens in dezelfde oude reactie schiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tot slot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Angst is vaak niet het probleem zelf, maar een signaal dat iets in je systeem nog niet volledig is afgerond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EMDR kan helpen om daar beweging in te brengen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Niet door het weg te duwen, maar door het opnieuw te laten verwerken op een manier die rustiger voelt in je dagelijks leven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EMDR bij angst: als je hoofd het begrijpt, maar je lijf niet meewerkt Angst is vaak niet zo rationeel als we zouden willen.
